According to statistics from the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF), the investment raised through Golden Visas increased in August by 33%.
In August, the investment coming from the 'Residence Permit for the Investment Activity' (ARI), as well as Golden Visas, reached €45,697,573 – an increase of 33% year-on-year (in 2017 the value was €34,280,143.19) – a 75% increase compared to July of this year. According to the data, 82 ARI were granted: four by transfer of capital, one for the creation of at least 10 jobs and 77 for the purchase of real estate.
Out of 77 Golden Visas granted through the criterion of the acquisition of real estate, 15 resulted from the purchase of property for urban rehabilitation. Since the first visa through urban rehabilitation was issued in July 2016, 186 Golden Visas were granted through this route.
In the first eight months of 2018, the investment raised through this route amounted to €555,843,001.98, representing a decrease of 19.5% over 2017. In cumulative terms – since the Golden Visa Programme launch, in October, 2012, until August 2018, the total investment amounted to €3,967,108,844.37, of which €370,144,760.19 through transfer of capital and €3,596,964,084.18 through the acquisition of real estate.
