Investment in commercial real estate in Portugal at historical highs despite the pandemic

Between January and September 2020, a new peak of 2,330 million euros was reached in Portugal, according to data from the Marketbeat Portugal Autumn 2020.

Not even the difficulties caused by the new coronavirus stopped investment in commercial real estate. And this is already considered one of the best years ever in this segment: between January and September 2020, a new peak of 2,330 million was reached, representing a growth of 36% compared to the same period last year. The volume of investments foreseen until the end of the year should be around 2,700 million - a decrease in relation to 2019, but it will still be a third historical maximum.

Domestic capital doubled the volume invested by 485 million in the period under review, but foreign investors continued to dominate the real estate investment activity in Portugal, having been responsible until the third quarter for 80% of the total volume transacted.
