The Parliament Quarter
Stretching from Santos and Santa Catarina upward to Principe Real, the area is landmarked by the Assembleia da República – Portuguese Parliament building, also known as Palácio do São Bento, as it was erected on the site of a former Benedict monastery. Rua de São Bento is the main curvy artery of the area, connecting Santos, Estrela, Rato and Amoreiras neighbourhoods. São Bento is an area filled with small restaurants, cafes, guesthouses, and hotels offering cosy intimate atmosphere to its visitors. The area is well connected with nearby metro station Rato. Properties in São Bento vary from small traditional Alfama-like houses to more spacious buildings offering diverse apartment typologies. The area is well located, well connected and charming, offering reasonably good residential opportunities.
