An elegant residential neighborhood
Having been a centre of trade for a long time, this area has managed to transform itself into a relaxed and pleasant place to live in. Located in the northwest part of the city, just uphill from Basilica da Estrela and Avenue of Infante Santo, this pretty area remains somewhat away from the most of Lisbon's busy spots. Campo de Ourique has never really been a touristic destination in Lisbon, although it has witnessed an inflow of foreign residents as well as trendy shopping and eating options. One of its highlights includes gothic Church of Holy Constable, Campo de Ourique Market, the bakery Panificação Mecânica and the textile store Vidal Tecidos. This "city within the city" offers both modern and traditional experience with an authentic neighbourhood life sometimes hard to find in more touristic places.
In terms of real estate, Campo de Ourique offers high-quality residential buildings, with both traditional and newly built apartment buildings, which preserved the flavour and characteristics of bourgeoisie Lisbon. You will not find many short-term rentals here, but rather bigger apartments with higher ceilings suitable for elegant, comfortable and peaceful living. It is a part of the city that attracts both young and elderly, who search for peace and quiet, with round-the-clock amenities.
